For most of my life, I’ve had digestive symptoms.
I would get so constipated as a kid my mother would have to give me enemas to relieve the pain. Talk about embarrassing!
I’ve canceled plans because I wouldn’t be around a bathroom or be forced to use a porta-potty. I’ve avoided intimacy because I was afraid my stomach would be gurgling or God forbid, I’d pass gas!
I’ve had doctors tell me to go on yet another round of antibiotics for my rosacea. Others have told me to eliminate this and that from my diet, lower my stress level, stop drinking alcohol, give up caffeine, and on and on and on.
The truth is, they weren’t wrong.
They just didn’t know how to put it all together in one cohesive plan to actually heal my gut—they couldn’t offer me solutions, only short-term ways to alleviate the burden of my symptoms.
That wasn’t good enough for me. I wanted to know “why.”
Why are my symptoms there in the first place? What caused them? And most importantly, what can I do to get rid of them, for good!
I’ve been where you are, and I really do understand how it feels.
I’ve spent most of my adult life searching for answers to help my own digestive distress and now I want to share what I’ve learned with you.
You can heal your gut and start living your best life again!

Christy Monahan is a nutrition, supplement, and functional testing expert who has been helping women break free from embarrassing and complex digestive problems for over 20 years.
Her health education began in her mid-20s as she unraveled her own digestive and hormonal symptoms. Years of anxiety, bloating, pain, and surgeries culminated in the diagnoses of gallstones, pancreatitis, and leaky gut.
Christy used her experiences as a reason to help both herself and other women—she became certified as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and Restorative Wellness Practitioner in addition to her decades of experience with massage and other bodywork techniques.
Christy currently works with women who live a restricted life due to the same hard-to-treat, life-limiting digestive symptoms that she overcame.
Her work centers on finding and supporting the underlying cause of these issues so women can get back to enjoying a meal out with friends, a date with their husbands, or a trip with the
family.
You can find Christy at www.bodyinharmonyma.com or walking on the beach with her rescue dogs Anny & Hailey.
I’m an NTP—a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, certified through the Nutritional Therapy Association. An NTP is trained to work with clients based on their unique bio-individual needs from a foundational perspective. I don’t diagnose, treat, or cure disease. I use my knowledge to collaborate with clients to create effective whole-food, supplement, and lifestyle-based protocols.
An RWP is a Restorative Wellness Practitioner, certified through Restorative Wellness Solutions. My speciality is gastrointestinal healing, including the interpretation of GI and food sensitivity testing.
The short answer: No.
The long answer is that the book describes in-depth reasoning for why certain foods can lead to GI symptoms for women and how to pinpoint if these foods are, or aren’t, problematic for you.
Each person has such a unique biological, emotional, and mental history that it’s impossible to recommend a blanket diet for all people.
No, supplements aren’t required.
However, I do make generalized and safe-for-everyone supplement recommendations throughout the book.
Most supplement recommendations should be made under the supervision of an experienced clinician.
Weight loss is sometimes a side effect of rebalancing digestion.
On the flip side, some people need weight gain; as they heal their digestion, they tend to gain extra pounds.
While weight is a primary goal for many women I work with, it’s always a secondary clinical outcome. It happens, as needed, when we heal and nourish our bodies.
I would be lying if I said this was guaranteed.
The book is easy to read but highly detailed in the most common reasons why women, specifically, experience gut symptoms. I cover multiple issues (and solutions!) I see in my clients and wish I had been aware of decades earlier.
I regularly hear from clients that they don’t understand why their doctor didn’t ask them the questions I ask them or offer the solutions I offer. I wrote all those details into this book!
So I can guarantee you’ll better understand your body and learn more about solutions no one has offered.
This is a hard question to answer, as every person is different.
However, many women feel better after implementing just a few small changes, like creating a relaxed state before meals. Small steps can make a huge difference!
For some of us, it takes longer to notice a shift. Consider how long you’ve felt unwell or even “off.” It may take some time for you to feel like yourself again.
